Porsche 959 Rally replica wheels

During a recent build of our magnificent 959 Rally replica on an MF-01X chassis, Rob decided to opt for modelling some wheels to suit the body. More in keeping with the real car and an completely different to the early Tamiya 959 wheels.


These wheels are made to suit M Chassis builds, in this case the MF-01X was used as it the 4x4 chassis is better suited to the 959 replica. 
Standard Tamiya M block tyres fit onto these wheels, the offset is designed to look good under our 959 body shells.


How strong are these wheels?

From tests, they're pretty strong. They will shatter on impact with hard immovable object though. Tests have shown they do run well and are useable when driven carefully. If your model is to sit on a shelf, no issue at all of course. :) 

Surface finish?

Some very light surface sanding before painting is recommended. Typically a 800 - 1200 grit paper is good to clean up the surface. Resin can be sanded very easily.
Painting, classic automotive rattle-can primers and paints work well on resin, alternatively Tamiya TS paints have been tested with good results too. PS paints are not recommended.
